Our Mission:

Thank you for visiting the homepage for the Oconto River Watershed Chapter of National Trout Unlimited.

Mission: We have a continued commitment to improve/protect our cold water resources and to be involved in the community. We plan our habitat projects in conjunction with other TU Chapters, and we with guidance from the DNR and US Forest Service in Oconto, Langlade, Marinette Counties with emphasis on the Oconto River Watershed.

Enjoy learning about our great TU Chapter and consider becoming a member! We have great events, an informative newsletter, as well as numerous social and environmental events to partake in.

We welcome you to get involved in chapter activities. To get involved, attend our next meeting or sign up here.

2024 Stream Habitat Project Dates are: May 18, June 15, July20 and August 17. Location to be announced – 8am – till Noon with lunch provided. 

Chapter members along with Green Bay TU members working with WDNR on Saturday stream restoration projects, Oconto River Watershed.

A Kid’s Fishing Area is located in Town of Mountain, State Hwy 32 to the bridge on the atv/snowmobile trail near Church Road.  

This section along with the pond is stocked with Brook Trout for opening day of fishing (First Saturday in May). Great opportunity to get kids into trout fishing!

Area is for kids ages 12 and under, limit 3 fish per kid.

  • Next Chapter Meeting & Picnic has changed to July 27th at Lyman Wocking’s Lake
  • 2024 Chapter meetings are on March 12, May 14, July 27th – Picnic with special meeting, September 10 and December 10.

The Chapter Leaders thanks every Member and Volunteer for supporting the Chapters Events and the TU Mission. Together we can do national and local stream habitat projects which make streams more suitable for fish reproduction and fishing. 

The daunting question remains, how much can we lose if we choose to do nothing for our public lands?
